Mid Ulster

Across Maghera, Magherafelt and Cookstown, 5000+ young people attend secondary school each day. In the Autumn of 2024, we began to ask; could we do something bold and new to reach young people in this community? 

Standing with local churches and schools is central to our approach, and so we set off by building our understanding of the area and connecting with local leaders and young people.

During this time we worked in 4 local schools, contributed to events in 10 churches, sent out first team to Romania and appointed Jordan Haffey as our Area Leader in December 2025.

We're just getting started, and are now offering a small number of opportunities to get involved:

• DISCIPLES Programme: A Sept-March programme of monthly gatherings, small groups and a residential focused on helping young people follow Jesus.
• Teams: A 16-week small group course followed by an adventurous summer mission placement. This year, we hope to send 3 teams from Mid Ulsterto Romania, Hungary and Spain.
• Schools: Our SOAR leadership course, SU Groups, Alpha and Assemblies in local secondary schools.

We've got big plans for our work in Mid Ulster, including:

• Opening an amazing Youth Centre in Magherafelt - a base for our work (watch this space!)
• Schools ministry, with opportunity to partner with 9 local secondary school.
• A weekly drop-in and other before/after school opportunities
• Partnership with local churches to run Teams, Alpha or other opportunities.
